Omphalotus mexicanus

Seriously poisonous — do not eat it.

If someone has eaten it, call emergency services or your poison control centre.

Foraging: Never eat a wild mushroom on a photo or an app’s word. Many deadly species look like edible ones.

About

Omphalotus mexicanus is a gilled basidiomycete mushroom in the family Marasmiaceae. Found in Mexico, it was described as new to science in 1984. Fruit bodies contain the toxic compounds illudin S and illudin M.
