Musa acuminata
The story
Long ago, around 8000 BCE, early humans in Southeast Asia began a relationship with a wild plant that would change the global diet forever. By domesticating this species, those early farmers laid the groundwork for the modern edible dessert bananas that are now enjoyed all over the world.
