Hydrangea paniculata
The story
In 1829, the German physician and botanist Philipp Franz von Siebold formally described the panicled hydrangea for the scientific community. This beautiful member of the Hydrangeaceae family had long been growing wild across the landscapes of Korea, Japan, southern and eastern China, and the Sakhalin region of Russia before it was introduced to global botanical records.
