Crassula aquatica

About

Crassula aquatica is a succulent plant known by the common names water pygmyweed, common pygmyweed and just pigmyweed. It is an annual plant of salt marshes, vernal pools, wetlands, and other fresh to brackish water bodies. It is at least partially aquatic, living in areas which are submersed much of the time. It also lives along muddy banks and in tidally-active areas of estuaries.

How to use it

Pygmyweed can be used in ecological restoration projects, especially in wetland areas. Its ability to grow in both fresh and brackish water makes it a valuable species for stabilizing muddy banks and improving water quality in its habitat.

Gardening tip

If you're looking to grow pygmyweed, consider planting it in a shallow area of your garden that can stay moist or even submerged. This will help mimic its natural habitat and encourage healthy growth.
